Manuscript Proposal Guidelines
Libraries Unlimited publishes quality bibliographies and reference books, library science textbooks, information science materials, and practical handbooks, monographs, and manuals for library educators, practicing librarians, and media specialists.
OUTLINE FOR MANUSCRIPT PROPOSALS| Tentative Title: | A descriptive title for the purpose of identifying the particular manuscript. | |
| Scope and Purpose: | Describe in one paragraph the intended purpose of the book, the scope of coverage, limitations of subject, language, etc., primary (and secondary) audience. | |
| Outline: | A preliminary outline should show all chapters and key subsections. The outline should be accompanied by written chapter summaries that explain the main theme and scope of each chapter. | |
| Methodology and Presentation: | Summarize the search plan that is to be used in locating the necessary data. Although bibliographies and textbooks will have entirely different requirements, in general, the plan should state the types of sources to be consulted and collection methods (some books will be based on surveys, etc.) The need for illustrations, maps, appendixes, index, etc., should be determined. | |
| Sample Section: | A sample chapter or section in preliminary form should be submitted to demonstrate the organization, content, writing style, and documentation to be used. Bibliographies should illustrate arrangement, bibliographic entry, and annotation style. | |
| Similar or Related Works: | Identify books on the same topic or major books on similar or related topics. Explain the need for the proposed book and how it is planned to fill a specific gap in coverage or provide a special approach to the subject. | |
| Resume: | Please include a current resume with your submission. | |
